AUTODESK 3DS MAX - CHARACTER ANIMATION (CHARACTER STUDIO)

General description

This three-day training introduces key character animation intermediate techniques using 3ds Max.

Audience

The course is designed for computer graphics professionals working in various fields such as video games, film and TV, architecture and conceptual design who wish to incorporate 3ds max in their creative process.

Course Objectives

At the end of the Autodesk 3ds Max - Character Animation training, the participant will be able to:

  • Use and understand Character Studio interface
  • Use Character Studio's tools and understand their possibilities
  • Insert a biped into a character
  • Use Reactor and Cloth tools
  • Create a walk cycle using Copy and Paste pose
  • Animate using IK (hands and foot)
  • Animate objects using link constraint
  • Use Sub animation with Workbench
  • Create distinct Biped animations

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of an graphic software.

Course themes

The course features a series of activities and exercises covering the core components of Character Studio, from skinning characters to creating motion libraries, using motion capture data and association of visual content. These include the user interface, footsteps, biped and physique, motion capture and layering as well as freeform animation, editing, and blending technology with traditional key frame animation to create a character animation system unique to any platform.

Course structure

Discussions and presentations of real-life case scenario will allow the group to exchange ideas on the featured concepts. Hands-on exercises will allow the participants to master the tools and exchange their experiences.
