VFX SUPERVISION WORKSHOP WITH MARJOLAINE TREMBLAY FROM ELEMENT FX
General description
This course is intended for professional visual effects artists, specifically team leaders and supervisors as well as producers who want to learn how to improve their management methods based on the speaker's experiences. The content of the workshop will cover the complete management cycle of a production from the first contact with the customer to the contract closing. More specifically, those topics will be covered: pitch, budget, production, calendar, crisis management and closing. Examples will be based on various cases from the speaker's experiences and will be presented in a case format in order to stimulate discussion. By the end of the workshop, the participants will be able to identify areas of improvement within its context and will have various references of the VFX industry's best practices.
Schedule
The workshop took place on November 11th, 2009 from 9AM until 5PM.
About the Marjolaine Tremblay
Marjo launched elementFX, a full service visual effects studio in 2005. Her effervescence allowed her to venture into the independent film world and she became a visual effects supervisor on feature projects such as The Darwin Awards and The Life Before Her Eyes. Her commercial directing debut came this year in a beautifully executed commercial for the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Marjolaine is currently in pre-production for her feature film directing debut with a project titled Legend of Kashara. Marjo started her career as an animator apprentice at Pascal Blais Productions in Montreal, Canada. She was then summoned to Industrial Light and Magic in 1994 for ten years of life altering experiences. Specializing in creature animation crowds and crowd choreography, Marjo was crowned lead animator/sequence supervisor on dozens of projects including Magnolia, Star Wars Episode 1, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Mummy Returns, just to drop a few. Her energetic influence gave her the position of SF Bay Area Section Chair for the Visual Effect Society for 2 years; she still remains as a board member.
