(Animation Seminar)
General description
This one day seminar introduces the concepts of acting play to the animators so they can better direct their virtual characters. The emphasis will be on the body language, emotion types and animation principles.
With this seminar, the participants will be able to better analyze and criticise the acting in a movie and gain a better understanding of the impact of empathy.
About the speaker, Gino Vincelli
Having graduated in Cinema and Television in 1996 from the Centre NAD, Gino has worked on many 3D TV series such as : the Real Adventures of Jonny Quest (Hanna-Barbera) at Groupe Image Buzz in Montreal, and on a children 3D TV series in the Netherlands. Back in Montreal, he worked for seven years in the Education and 3D training department in Softimage. As the ATC Manager and Senior Instructor of Softimage, Gino was in charge of certifying instructors to teach XSI at authorized training centers worldwide and evaluating and approving of new training centers. He was also responsible for XSI's Tutorial Guide and its database content. Gino has given trainings for companies such as EA, Ubisoft, Animal Logic, Sega and has been a guest speaker at conferences in Montreal and abroad. Gino has joined the Centre NAD as a full-time Certified Softimage XSI.
Course Objectives
At the end of this seminar, the participant will be able to :

- Understand body language (eyes and facial expressions)
- Understand acting principles
- Understand the various acting techniques
- Distinguish the actor from the animator
- Analyze and criticise movie acting
- Understand the impact of empathy
