DIGITAL DRAWING FOR 3D ARTISTS WORKSHOP

This two days workshop covers the main digital drawing techniques in Adobe Photoshop. With many practice labs, digital tools, coloring and lighting techniques, landscape, character and creating a digital concept art will allow participants to experiment with the methods they have learned and apply them inside their creative process.

About the speaker, Dave Hawey

Dave Hawey graduated from Centre NAD in Design and 3D Animation for video games in 2003. He then worked at Gameloft and at DC Studio as a 3D artist and at Ubisoft Montreal on the Rainbow Six Vegas series as a lighting artist and as a modeling/texture artist on the Avatar videogame.

Dave also created many illustrations for different projects such as Kiso no Kaizen written by Shihan Stephane Meunier (under the direction of Mr. Meunier) and the work of Dr Kacem Zoughari, Tradition du mouvement dans les écoles de combat du Japon. Dave is currently finishing his master in arts for which he created digital images using his digital drawing techniques.

Dave has joined the Centre NAD team as a teacher for the bachelor degree in 3D Animation and Digital Design. He teaches Character Design, 3D Creation - Improvement and the Production Simulation Workshop.

Course Objectives

At the end of his training, the participant will be able to :

  • Understand the representation of shapes in space
  • Create image compositing
  • Work with light and shadow
  • Apply traditional drawing notion to 3D
  • Identify way to ameliorate his 3D creations

Prerequisites

  • Passion of drawing
  • Work where creating visual content is required
  • Intermediate level on Adobe Photoshop
