A network of seasoned instructors?

One of the great strengths of the NAD Centre resides in the quality of its instructors. From diversified academic and professional backgrounds, they form a strong and polyvalent team. Every instructor dedicated to the continuing education has a vast professional experience in his own field and holds one or several certifications for the benefit of our clients.

Teachers

Gino Vincelli, Softimage Certified Instructor
After his graduation from the film and television program at the NAD Centre in 1996, Gino Vincelli worked on different 3D television series such as: Hanna-Barbera's The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest at Buzz Image Group in Montreal and a 3D series for kids in the Netherlands. Back in Montreal, Softimage hired him. For 7 years, Gino has worked in the department of education and training (3D) at Softimage. As the ATC Manager and Senior Instructor of Softimage, Gino was in charge of certifying instructors to teach Softimage at authorized training centers worldwide and evaluating and approving of new training centers. He was also responsible for Softimage's Tutorial Guide and its database content. Gino has given trainings for companies such as: EA, Ubisoft, Animal Logic, Sega and has been a guest speaker at conferences in Montreal and abroad. Since September 2006, Gino has joined the NAD Centre as a full-time Certified Softimage. He is also an Autodesk Certification Evaluator and a character animation professor.

Benoit Melançon, ACI*, ACSR DS**
Already working in the field of film production, Benoit completed its diploma at the NAD Centre in 1997. As a 3D animator and set supervisor, Benoit worked in various video games and visual effects companies such as ZAQ Technologies and Big Bang FX. Director of the digital compositing program, Benoit joined the NAD Centre team in 2002 as a Certified Avid DS and ACSR Instructor.

Dominic Mercier, Instructor, compositing program
Dominic Mercier started his career as a video editor / operator for television reports, commercials, tv shows, video clips, etc. After 5 years of inline editing, Dominic taught, for one year, at the Art and Technology of Medias Program at Cegep de Jonquière. In 1994, Dominic became instructor at Softimage/Microsoft where he taught SOFTIMAGE | Eddie Software to Softimage and Microsoft staff. In 1996, he joined Softimage/ Microsoft educational services where he produced didactic material for SOFTIMAGE|DS software. Then, he was in charge of the technical support of AVID DS software. In 2001, he became AVID DS editor/animator for film projects at Ex-Centris Studio. In 2006, Dominic Mercier came back to Softimage/Avid and was in charge of the technical support for Avid DS Nitris and Avid Symphony Nitris software. He also worked as a freelancer for different companies such as: Buzz and Media Principia. In January 2008, he joigned the NAD Centre's team as an instructor for the Digital Compositing program.

Nicolas Poteet, Manager 3d Animation for Film and television program and Softimage|XSI Certified Instructor
SOFTIMAGE|XSI Certified Instructor, Nicolas Poteet is 3D Animation Training Manager of the 3D Animation and Visual Effects in Film and Television program. Holder of a Painting university Certificate and other studies in Fine Arts, he chose to pursue his interests in cgi with completing his NAD Centre diploma in Film and Television in 1994. Besides his role of instructor and technical expert at the NAD Centre since 94, this seasoned animator has also been working as consultant for IceStorm Digital Studios, Media Principia and Groupe Image Buzz o­n various productions such as Extreme Ops, The Baroness and the Pig, Inside the Space Station et The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne.

Robin Tremblay, Manager, Visual Effects program
Manager of the Visual Effects Training of the 3D Animation and Visual Effects in Film and Television program, Robin Tremblay is the creator of the first training program that started in 1992. Certified Instructor for SOFTIMAGE|3D 201 and 301, he is also part of the Beta-test team for several 3d production software and plug-ins developers. He holds a Computer Science Bachelors Degree and is an accomplished cgi artist with more than 10 years of experience in film and television postproduction. Besides his work with the NAD Centre he acts as a senior consultant for Image Buzz Group at which he has collaborated to several advertising projects such Coca-cola, Molson Dry, Loto-Québec, Crest, National Football League, Nissan, Ford, and motion pictures such as Extreme Ops, etc. Also a freelance, he has been landing a helping hand to other local and international companies o­n various visual effects productions such Screamers, La Vengeance de la femme en noir, Karmina, The Assignment, The Last Night, The Red Violin, Mystery Man, Pluto Nash and ad campaigns such as recent Intell in Los Angeles.

Frédéric Vicaire, 3ds Max Instructor, Design and Digital Art for Video Games program
Graduated from a Bachelor in 3D Animation in 2003 in Paris, Frederic Vicaire won a European prize at Imagina (Monaco) in Motion Graphic. Frederic worked as a freelancer for brands such as: Mtv, Aol, Atari, TVM, Thq or Ubisoft. Generalist 3D Artist, Frederic has also some specialties such as modeling and rendering on Maya, 3DS Max, Combustion, After Effects and Photoshop software. Frederic was also consultant for Adobe France and taught 3DS Max and Maya for regular and continuing training. In May 2007, he joined the Design and 3D animation for video games program as a permanent instructor. Frédéric teaches drawing, 2D Graphic Design and lighting. He also assists the Director program and supervises laboratories.

Ileana Dana Darie, 3ds Max Instructor, Design and Digital Art for Video Games program
Graduate in mathematics with a B.Sc. from the University of Sciences in Brasov, Dana first taught high school there for 3 years. She has 7 years experience with Maya software, having obtained a specialist diploma from Alias Wavefront. She started her career in 3D in Romania at Tiny Creatures, a 3D animation and visual effects studio where she was in charge of Rigging, facial expressions and modeling. Her career led her to Montreal where she first worked as a modeler and texturer for a film production company Galafilm & Lone Monkey Company Inc. and a game company Side City. She then worked as a Rigger at Meteor Studios on different film productions such as: The Exorcist: The Beginning, Alien Planet, Librarian or Extension Experience. In November 2007, she joined the NAD team as a permanent instructor in 3D animation of video games. Dana teaches Animation levels I, II and III. On May 2008, Dana won a Fuji Award in Film Animation for her short animated film Spherationship at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema's annual awards ceremony.

Pierre Tousignant, 3ds Max Instructor, Manager, Design and Digital Art for Video Games program
After obtaining a bachelors' degree in landscape design in 1987, Pierre Tousignant worked several years on new digital technologies and their integration in a work environment. In 1993, he studied 3D animation at the NAD Centre. After his studies, he worked for a year as an animator and a modeler in Orlando for Nickelodeon Studios on an animation production for children. In 1995, he was hired by Softimage-Microsoft where he worked for 10 years and held several positions: Instructor on SOFTIMAGE|3D, Senior instructor and finally Director of Training. In the summer 2007, he became the Video Games Program Director at the NAD Centre. Pierre teaches 3D Graphic Design (level I, II, III), Introduction to animation concepts and Storytelling / Storyboard.
