Laboratories

The NAD Centre moved to brand new premises located at 405 Ogilvy Avenue, 3rd floor in Montreal. In this section, you can view pictures of our labs. If you wish to visit the NAD Centre in person, do not hesitate to register for one of our guided visits that are organized each month by the Customer Service department.

Cutting edge labs

The NAD Centre has several labs for theory or practical work, which are spread out over 23,000 sq. ft. and open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Thirty (30) practical stations are put at the students' disposal in an open space, similarly to production studios, in order to favour communication and teamwork.

Students also have access to a practical lab of 15 stations as well as a theory room of 60 places with an HD screen and 26-inch screens. Moreover, drawing, sculpture, lighting and traditional animation courses are held in an arts room with 60 tablet arm chairs. Finally, a service counter enables students to borrow shooting material such as: cameras, tripods, lenses, etc.

Configured especially for video game design or digital postproduction, the computer stations run on Windows XP. The software is updated with each new version release and the workstations are replaced every 12 to 18 months.

All stations have a minimum of 4 GB of memory and some even have up to 8 GB. They also have at least two processors and some even have eight! The entire network is in gigabytes and the disk space allotted to students starts at 20 GB. Finally, the NAD Centre supports more than 32 terabytes of data (32,000 gigabytes or 32 million megabytes), of which more than 60 new gigabytes are generated daily.

All the students are connected on an Intranet which enables them to post their work and images, access their student record, check the occupancy of the various rooms as well as their course schedule, chat on forums, share their most recent 3D creations, and much more?.
